Upcoming Events
Hello,
This past week was the halfway point for the 4th Six Weeks. Interim Progress Reports have been submitted and will be sent home with students this week. In addition to the progress report, parents should look at their students’ objective sheets. Each band class has weekly objectives that students should pass off either during sectionals, class, or via Schoology. Most students with low grades in band are due to objectives not being completed. Finances Please make sure all finances are up to date. Payment may be made to the Band Booster Box at the front of the Band Hall via cash or check made out to Touch of Gold, or online through Charms via credit or debit card. January Private Lesson Fees are now past due, and February Private Lesson Fees are due this weekend. All fees should be paid at this point except for trips and February Private Lessons (Due February 1st) forward. In addition, the Solo and Ensemble contest fees have been applied to the accounts of those participating, and are due on February 1st. Volunteer Opportunity The Denison Athletic Booster Club has offered us a few dates to work the soccer concession booth and earn money for the Touch of Gold Booster Club. Please visit this link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050f4eacaa2aabff2-soccer Solo and Ensemble Students in all three concert bands will prepare a solo during the fourth sixth weeks. These will be performed during In-Class Recitals in February. Many students have also elected to compete at the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest on February 8th. Separate emails have been sent out to those students who signed up. There is an entry fee of $13 for solos and $8 per person in ensembles. In addition, if your student is playing an accompanied solo, there is a $60 pianist fee. These fees have been applied to your CHARMS account and are due by February 1st. The first piano rehearsals will take place this week on Thursday and Friday after school in the Choir Room practice rooms. Please check the updated schedule that is attached to this email. This schedule will also be posted in the band hall. If you miss your piano rehearsal, you will NOT be able to make it up. The Solo & Ensemble Contest will be held at Rockwall Heath High School, and we will provide transportation to and from Rockwall Heath HS. The schedule was sent home in a previous email. Composition Project Students in all three concert bands have also been working on a Composition Project this six weeks. These projects are due on Wednesday, February 12th.
