The Jazz Band is an ensemble that meets during class all year round and consists of playing many styles of jazz music, improvisation and jazz theory. Jazz Band membership is open to all Touch of Gold band students and others involved in one of the parent large ensembles within the fine arts with prior approval by the director. Jazz Band membership is open to students outside the band program only when there are no qualified band member candidates for keyboard, rhythm guitar, and/or bass guitar. All instruments are welcome to join the Jazz Band class. In the spring, we will divide the class into a competitive and non-varsity jazz ensemble. The competitive Jazz Band will travel to local festivals in the DFW and Texoma areas. Both ensembles will perform at concerts on campus. Please check the band website and calendar for Jazz Band performance dates and information. Upperclassmen with a strong interest in Jazz are encouraged to participate in the All-Region Jazz Ensemble auditions in September.
