Wind Ensemble
Director: Mrs. Lewis
The Wind Ensemble consists of 40-50 serious musicians who focus on some of the highest quality of wind literature. Participation in this varsity level ensemble requires a high level of dedication and performance from each member. Enrollment in private lessons is expected. Performances will include UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest, one or more invitational festivals, a Holiday concert, a Spring concert, and special events. In addition, extra rehearsals and clinics are occasionally scheduled outside of the school day along with sectionals throughout the year. This class meets first period and also functions as a “zero-hour” class in the spring. Students in the Wind Ensemble will be required to audition for the All-Region Band in November/December, to perform an appropriate level solo at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in February, and to perform an appropriate level ensemble at the Texoma Solo and Ensemble Contest in May.
